Woolworths Free from Gluten All Purpose Flour
Woolworths Free from Gluten All Purpose Flour is a staple in my kitchen. I use it to replace wheat flour when converting a recipe to a gluten-free version.
At this stage not all Woolworths stores stock it, but it's often available online. I primarily use this flour as a replacement for traditional wheat or cake flour in recipes I've modified to be gluten-free. I prefer weighing ingredients with a scale rather than using cup measurements, but I try to provide the cup equivalent when I can. A standard cup of all-purpose flour typically weighs between 120g and 130g. Since not all gluten-free flours work for everyone, experimenting to find the one that meets your needs is recommended. For those not on a gluten-free diet, you can replace this flour with regular all-purpose wheat flour in most recipes featured on this website.
Please keep in mind: Gluten-free flour requires thickeners, stabilisers, and binders to ensure it behaves more like wheat flour in your recipes. Woolworths Free from Gluten All Purpose Flour uses psyllium husk for this purpose. If any you are using lists psyllium husk or xanthan gum, please remember that these are already components of this product.
If you sieve your flour through a fine mesh strainer, the psyllium husk will be removed from the flour. Once you have completed the sieving process, add the psyllium husk particles back to your ingredients/batter; otherwise, will lose the elasticity it adds.
